Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child at St Martin's Catholic Primary School Carina.  St Martin's is a Prep to Year 6 school, forming part of the Brisbane Archdiocesan community of schools.   At St Martin's we believe that our school community develops in a manner consistent with the spirit of Saint Dominic and the principles that promote positive relationships in classrooms and the broader community.  Please do not hesitate to contact our Enrolments Co-ordinator for support on 3900 9101.

Please read the information below, as it provides applicants with the steps involved for submitting a successful
Enrolment Application to St Martin's School.
 

ENROLMENT POLICY

At times it is necessary to limit the intake of students for various reasons.  In these circumstances, preference is given in order of the following Categories 1 to 4

Category 1.  Children who is a sibling of a current student of St Martin's.
Category 2.  Children who are baptised Catholic.
Category 3.  Children who are baptised, whose family is practicing another faith tradition.
Category 4.  Children who are not baptised and both parents support the philosophy of Catholic Education.

HOW DO I SUBMIT AN ENROLMENT APPLICATION SUCCESSFULLY?  
PLEASE FOLLOW THE 3 STEPS BELOW.

STEP 1:

Please have these documents ready: Birth Certificate, Baptism Certificate, Visa/Citizenship Papers, Medical Reports, Specialists Reports, Legal Documents.  Unfortunately, enrolment applications which are missing documents cannot be accepted.    

STEP 2 - Email the documents below to pcarenrolments@bne.catholic.edu.au  
  1. Complete the attached 'Enrolment Category Form' Enrolment Category Form 2024.pdf
  2. Birth Certificate
  3. Baptism Certificate
  4. Visa and Citizenship documents​ for parents born overseas
  5. Medical, Learning or Specialists reports
  6. Court order documents
  7. Last 2 school reports, including NAPLAN for applicants Years 1 to 6.
STEP 3 - Complete the 'Enrolment Application Form' online (this is automatically submitted to BCE)

 HOW DO I KNOW MY APPLICATION IS COMPLETED CORRECTLY? 
Within 2 weeks of sending your full application, you will receive a personal email from St Martin's School advising the next steps.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR YEARS 1 TO 6?

​For students commencing the following year, applications are due by the end of Term 3 in the previous year.
Applications for students wishing to commence throughout the year, please call the office to check availability.  
Interviews are held as required, when enrolment numbers permit.  


WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD START SCHOOL?

St Martin's School follow the recommended year level from Brisbane Catholic Education.

ENROLMENT PROCESS TIMELINE 

Term 1 - February Open Morning 
An Open Morning for prospective families is held once a year in early February.  Please check back on our website in December when details are announced.
Term 2 -  April and May Prep First round interviews conducted
Invitation for first round interviews.  Category 1,2,3 applications.  Enrolment Offers made mid-June and families are advised of the Prep Orientation Date.
Term 3 - Second round interviews for Prep conducted
An invitation to second round interviews is subject to places being available.  If you wish to remain on the waiting list, we will endeavour to provide updates throughout Terms 3 and 4.  At this stage we recommend families look at alternative options to secure a Prep enrolment.   
Term 4 - Prep Orientation Morning
Prep Orientation Morning for parents and students.   Parents receive welcome to the school and their Parent Handbook.  Students enjoy a fun morning of play in classroom, whilst parents remain for an information session.  Parents and their children meet at the conclusion of the session.   ​

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND AN INTERVIEW?

Yes.  All students of new families to the school are required to attend an interview in person.   Both parents are welcome to attend, however we understand at times only 1 parent may be available.   You will receive an email confirming your appointment and what to bring with you.

WAITING LIST?

Enrolment applications placed on the waiting list will be contacted if an interview can be offered.   You can contact the office at any time to get an update on your application.  

ENROLMENT POLICY INCLUSION SUPPORT

We welcome children with diverse learning needs.   We follow the guidelines of Brisbane Catholic Education to explore the needs of the child and to determine the suitability of the school resources.  It is important that all parties agree the resources and environment are compatible. On acceptance of enrolment application, it is understood that parents comply with the spirit of the school Mission Statement and agree to pay such fees and mandatory levies as set by the local authority.   Please contact us directly for a brochure.​

OUT OF HOURS SCHOOL CARE?

This beautiful new facility is conveniently located on the school grounds and is managed by Centacare.   For any questions please phone Centacare directly on 3398 7180.    Outside Hours School Care

NEW STUDENTS IN YEARS 1 TO 6?

In November, all existing students to St Martin's and new students commencing in Years 1 to 6 will visit their new classroom and meet their class teacher for the following year.   This session is usually from 1.30pm – 2.30pm.   Parents will be advised of the final details closer to the event.   Parent Handbooks are also distributed at this time for new families.
 
CAN I APPLY AT MULTIPLE SCHOOLS?

Yes, families are welcome to submit multiple applications.  Please note interviews will be offered based on each individual school enrolment policy.   Parents are asked to advise all schools of their preferences in asap.   If numbers permit, an offer will come from 1 school only.   This may not be the 1st preference and is dependant on the process of each school.    It is important to note that preferences can be made, however this may not guarantee an interview or an offer. 

CAN WE DEFER PREP?

Yes, students can wait 1 more year before starting Prep.  There is no approval required, however we recommend talking to the Pre-Prep/Kindy Teacher for advice.
