Learning and Teaching

Learning and Teaching at St Martin’s is viewed and implemented through the beliefs and values outlined in the Brisbane Catholic Education Learning and Teaching Framework.

The image presents a Learning and Teaching Framework using a large triangular diagram. The three sections of the triangle are labelled “We Believe” at the top, “We Teach” on the lower left and “We Learn” on the lower right. In the centre is a white shape titled “Our Goal”, describing the aim of educating learners to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ as successful, creative, confident and informed learners who enrich the world. Text panels around the triangle describe beliefs about learners, teaching and learning. A Catholic Education logo appears at the top, and a strip of photos of students and staff appears along the bottom.

The Brisbane Catholic Education Model of Pedagogy is used by teachers to bring together the principles & practices of learning and teaching that lead to success for all learners. It provides a common language for planning and reflecting on learning and teaching at St Martin’s.

The image shows a circular “Model of Pedagogy” diagram made up of five coloured segments. The segments are labelled Respond, Activate, Evaluate, Focus, and Establish and include short supporting statements about feedback, prior knowledge, assessment, learner focus, and learning intentions. At the centre of the circle is the title “Model of Pedagogy”. Small background images of students appear behind parts of the diagram.
