Our school was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1954, within the Parish which is still served by the Dominican Priests. Fr Alex Vickers is our current parish priest and a great supporter of the school. We proudly promote the four pillars of the Dominican Order: Service, Community, Learning and Prayer. As a school within the Brisbane Catholic Archdiocese, we also aim to follow the vision to Teach, Challenge and Transform.
We are blessed to have exceptional staff at St Martin's, with the teachers and support staff working collaboratively to ensure the needs of all learners are met. Currently, there are approximately 690 students from Prep to Year 6, from 500 families. Our unique teaching specialists include Music, Italian, Physical Education, and Art. We have a well-resourced Library, along with huge playgrounds, allowing us to cater for all students. We also offer several extra-curricular opportunities for the students including: Speech and Drama, Tennis, Skipping, Chess and football. St Martin's provides Outside School Hours Care onsite, including before and after school and vacation care.
At St Martin's we believe that education is a partnership between the home and school; the teachers being the formal educators of the students, continuing what was already begun at home. As such parents are encouraged to take an active part in their children's educational journey as we believe that this is a key factor in a child's success at school. Parents are also encouraged to be involved in school events.
Communication is an important key in any relationship and that applies to school. Hence, we ask that parents and staff have open and honest dialogue as we work together for the benefit of the children. There is regular communication via the parent portal, newsletter, email and if urgent phone calls. Together we want what is best for the children in our care.
We look forward to working with you at St Martin's.
