This year we celebrated the events of Holy Week with an Easter Prayer Walk. Each class has participated in the walk which commemorates this remarkable story, telling the story of the events from Palm Sunday through to Good Friday. The children have been able to follow the journey of Jesus' and experience firsthand, the events that led to his Crucifixion. Thank you to the staff that have helped me put this together and thank you to the parents who have joined their child's class for the walk. If you weren't able to make it you might like to discuss the story of Easter with your child/ren after they have experienced the walk. We will celebrate the Resurrection when we return next term on Wednesday 18th April at 11am. Prep have been working hard with Mrs Power, in Music, to learn a song for this Liturgy.
We are reminded that no matter how young or old we are, what a remarkable story the Easter story is. The fact that Jesus persevered in doing God's will in his life ought to give us hope in our own lives. Easter celebrates the promise of life in the face of death. Easter celebrations also reflect on peace and forgiveness which has come out of aggression. It is also a time for thinking about suffering, injustice and hardship. Let us focus this Easter, on the meaning of the Resurrection- New Life and new beginnings.
